Beauty in all its forms is a reconfirmed social and human success by which you can’t help but be touched. Alfaparf Milano has reaffirmed its sincere dedication to social issues in 2016/2017 by giving another 19 youth the possibility to undertake and complete a training course to obtain a diploma in Hairstylist Assistant, and therefore a job.
On February 18 and October 18, Alfaparf Milano and AIPD Bergamo (the Italian Association for People with Down’s Syndrome) undertook the task of accompanying these youth in the 2nd and 3rd training cycle of the initiative, which includes not only a professional course aimed toward placement in the work world, but more importantly personal development, necessary for integration into society and increasing their own autonomy.
The classes, in both Brescia and Bergamo, were led by ALFAPARF MILANO trainers and AIPD educators. The course structure follows an innovated formative methodology, designed specifically for people with intellectual disabilities. The course furthermore provides for a 4-week internship in an Alfaparf Milano salon.
Out of a total of 18 youth that received the certificate (the 3rd training cycle is still underway), 6 of them are working today thanks to having attended the course.
HOW THIS PROJECT WAS BORN
In 2013, Meta Social, a Brazilian institute that has long worked in social projects, created “Beleza em todas suas formas”, a social integration project for the training and professional growth of young adults affected by Down’s Syndrome. Alfaparf Milano decided to stand beside Meta Social in this innovative project, designing and managing training courses for “hairstylist assistants”.
